The Forgotten Market

This design project seeks to redefine the concept of wet markets to showcase their potential for evolution and inspire younger generations to see them as vibrant, relevant spaces that build on existing communities and traditions. Additionally, it aims to foster dialogue with policymakers and urban planners, rethinking the future of wet markets to ensure they evolve to meet the needs of future generations rather than succumbing to the pressures of modernisation. By introducing innovative concepts and initiatives, this project envisions a future where wet markets retain their cultural essence while adapting to contemporary urban life based on extensive observations and research modes which were applied in the duration of this project.

It is a device to be placed on the table when the user is studying. The device works with an app that includes an interactive rewards system. It counts the time when the user places his phone into the device and when he is focusing when studying.  The user can earn credits by not using his phone and focusing. The credits earned can be used to buy food for Teddy and feed Teddy. Study Teddy that appears on the phone screen act as the user’s study companion who can “study” with the user, keeping the user motivated to study.
